From Lab Bench to Leadership: My Journey as a Laboratory Technologist & Entrepreneur

Every year, International Lab Week (April 19–24) is a time to recognize the silent heroes behind healthcare—laboratory professionals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure accurate diagnosis and patient care. For me, this week is not just a celebration of a profession, but a reflection of a life-changing journey.

The Beginning: A Passion for Laboratory Science

My career began in 2014 at MES Medical College Hospital, Perinthalmanna, where I worked as a Laboratory Technologist until 2017. Those early years shaped my technical skills, discipline, and deep respect for the role laboratories play in saving lives. Every sample we handled carried a story, a diagnosis, and often, hope.

A New Chapter in the UAE

In December 2017, I moved to the United Arab Emirates in search of broader opportunities. Working in a new country came with its own challenges, but it also opened doors to growth, exposure, and learning.

During my time in the UAE, I had the opportunity to work with reputed healthcare organizations such as Prime Healthcare Group and Pure Health UAE. These experiences expanded my professional knowledge and gave me a global perspective on laboratory practices and healthcare systems.

The Entrepreneurial Spark

While working as a laboratory technologist in the UAE, I noticed a common challenge among many of my friends and colleagues—navigating the complex process of professional licensing and job placement in GCC countries.

This inspired me to start a small consultancy service, initially aimed at helping my close circle. My goal was simple: to guide healthcare professionals through licensing procedures and help them secure meaningful career opportunities in the GCC.

What started as a side initiative soon grew into a mission.

Building Something Bigger

As demand increased, I realized the potential to create a structured platform that could support more professionals. My best friend and partner, Dileep, joined me in this journey, sharing the same vision of empowering healthcare workers.

Together, we expanded our services, focusing on transparency, reliability, and genuine support.

From Professional to Healthcare Entrepreneur

While continuing my journey abroad, I always had a vision of giving back to my hometown. That vision became a reality in 2025 when I started Aicura Diagnostic Center in my village, Angadipuram.

Launching a diagnostic center was not just a business decision—it was a commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services in my community. With my background as a laboratory technologist, I ensured that the center focuses on accuracy, reliability, and patient-centered care.

Aicura Diagnostic Center represents the next phase of my journey—bringing international experience back home and creating impact at the grassroots level.

A Milestone Achievement

Today, I am proud to say that over the past 8 years, more than 20,000 healthcare professionals have benefited from our consultancy services. What began as a small effort to help friends has now grown into a trusted platform guiding thousands toward international careers.

At the same time, building a diagnostic center in my hometown stands as a personal milestone—combining my professional expertise with my entrepreneurial vision.

Reflecting During International Lab Week

As I look back, I remain deeply connected to my roots as a laboratory technologist. That foundation is what drives my passion even today. This International Lab Week, I celebrate not only the profession but also the journey it gave me—the journey from the lab bench to entrepreneurship.
